Dr. Ahmad Al-Shatti, Deputy Chairperson of the program, highlighted the campaign’s focus on educating young people about the risks associated with e-cigarettes. Studies have shown that youth who use e-cigarettes are three times more likely to transition to traditional cigarettes. Additionally, concerning statistics reveal a higher prevalence of e-cigarette use among adolescents aged 13-15 compared to adults.

Dr. Al-Shatti emphasized that e-cigarettes are not a safe alternative for quitting smoking and may even pose negative health consequences. He warned against misleading information promoted by the tobacco industry that portrays e-cigarettes as harm reduction tools. The campaign aims to counter such misinformation and expose the industry’s continued efforts to sell these harmful products.

The campaign, launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other public institutions, will reach out to communities through activities held at shopping malls, schools, social development centers, and primary healthcare facilities, reported KUNA.
