Engineer Maha Al-Asousi, acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, assured the public there’s no immediate energy crisis. However, she urged citizens and residents to conserve power, especially during peak usage hours.

The surge in electricity demand is attributed to widespread air conditioner use during the hot summer months. While the grid is currently stable, sources within the electricity sector warn of potential future strain due to urban expansion and past disruptions to energy projects.

Last year, the electrical load index nearly reached 17,000 megawatts, leading to localized power outages. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of managing energy consumption and addressing infrastructure limitations to ensure a reliable power supply in the face of rising demand.
