Kuwait Municipality: All Funeral Services Are Free
Kuwait City, Kuwait: The Kuwait Municipality has confirmed that all funeral services offered by their Funeral Affairs Department are completely free of charge. This includes transporting the body, preparing it, washing it, shrouding it, and burial at the cemetery.

Director of Public Relations, Muhammad Sandan, addressed recent misconceptions regarding a mandatory shroud fee. He clarified that purchasing a shroud is entirely optional for those who wish to handle these preparations themselves.
The Municipality does offer a service for those who prefer assistance – preparing and purchasing a shroud for a fee of 30 dinars. This service has been available for years to cater to citizens who request private management of body preparation. A “barcode” system has also been implemented for easy online payment through the official municipal website.
Sandan emphasized that these additional services are for convenience only, and there are absolutely no mandatory fees associated with the core funeral services provided by the Kuwait Municipality.
