Kuwait Medicine Shortages Remain a Concern Despite Ministry Assurances

Kuwait City, Kuwait: Kuwaiti Member of Parliament-elect Jenan Bushehri has expressed serious concerns regarding ongoing shortages of essential medications in the country.

Bushehri voiced her dissatisfaction with recent pronouncements by the Ministry of Health suggesting adequate medicine availability. She emphasized the significant challenges patients continue to face in obtaining necessary medications.

The newly elected parliamentarian highlighted that the issue of medicine shortages. It had been raised during the previous two parliamentary sessions (2022 and 2023). However, Bushehri asserted that investigations by the Health Affairs Committee were hampered by a lack of cooperation from the Ministry of Health, specifically regarding the provision of essential documents.

Her comments reflect a broader sense of public frustration surrounding the ongoing shortages. Bushehri went on to express her belief that the current health minister lacks the capacity to effectively address the crisis, suggesting the minister may even be contributing to the problem.

Committed to ensuring patient access to vital medications, Bushehri pledged to “closely follow up the issue” and hold the Ministry accountable for resolving the critical shortage of medicines, reported Arab Times.
