Summer Power Cut updates

Kuwait: Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy assures residents there will be no scheduled power cuts this summer. To meet peak demand, Kuwait will receive 300 megawatts of electricity from Oman’s power network.

The Gulf Electricity Interconnection Authority approved the deal, which is expected to take effect within the coming months.

Engineer Maha Al-Asousi, the acting Undersecretary of the Ministry, emphasized the importance of using energy wisely. She highlighted a separate agreement with the Kuwait Oil Company to achieve ambitious renewable energy goals.

This collaboration aims for carbon neutrality by 2050 and 30% of energy production from renewable sources. The plan includes building a 1-gigawatt renewable energy station.

The agreement represents a major step towards a greener Kuwait. Kuwait Oil Company will lead the station’s implementation, showcasing its commitment to reducing its environmental impact, reported Al Rai daily.
