Key features of the new regulations include:
- Private sector involvement: Businesses will be allowed to rent out camping spaces and establish cafes, restaurants, shops, and entertainment facilities in designated areas. Fees will be determined based on the activity and size of the space.
- Combating overcrowding and environmental damage: The regulations aim to prevent slums and haphazard use of camping sites, particularly in areas north, south, and west of Kuwait. Fines will be imposed for violations.
- Improved camping experience: The new framework is designed to create a more organized and enjoyable camping experience for all.
The regulations are currently under legal review before being presented to the Municipal Council for further discussion.
