Kuwait City, Kuwait: The Kuwait Municipality is taking a firm stance against temporary event tents, commonly used for weddings. Owners have been given one week to remove the structures.

The municipality emphasizes strict enforcement of regulations concerning the removal of these tents. This action aligns with Decree-Law No. 105 of 1980 regarding state property, as amended.

Returning Land to Original State for Reorganization

The municipality’s objective is to restore the land currently occupied by these tents to its natural state. This will allow for reorganization according to new regulations.

Previous Warnings Ignored, Legal Action Initiated

Municipal officials have issued prior warnings to many non-compliant wedding hall owners. However, these warnings were not heeded, prompting the municipality to take legal action.

Exploiting State Land, Licensing Fees Explained

Deputy Director of the Municipality for the Services Sector, Mishal Al-Azmi, highlighted the misuse of state land by these temporary structures. He emphasized the requirement for proper licensing and associated fees.

Licensing Fees and Renewal Details

According to regulations, a fee of 500 Kuwaiti dinars is applicable monthly for a temporary event tent license. This license can renew three times, with an additional 500 dinar fee for each renewal, reported Al Rai daily.
