The growth is primarily driven by a rise in the expatriate population. There are now 3.36 million expatriates residing in Kuwait, an increase of 90,990 from the previous year. The number of male expatriates reached 2.26 million, while the female expatriate population grew to 1.1 million.

While the expatriate population saw a significant rise, the number of Kuwaiti citizens also increased slightly. There are currently 1.545 million Kuwaiti citizens, reflecting a growth of 28,700 compared to January 1st, 2023. The gender breakdown reveals a nearly equal distribution with 758,700 male citizens and 787,000 female citizens.

This demographic shift highlights Kuwait’s reliance on a foreign workforce in various sectors of the economy. The continued growth in the expatriate population suggests a sustained demand for skilled labor from abroad, reported Arab Times.
