Through this deposition, Kuwait aims to solidify its adherence to international agreements, protocols, and commitments related to climate change mitigation. The effort reportedly involved significant contributions from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil Imad Al-Atiqi, Foreign Affairs Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, and Kuwait’s Governor to OPEC Mohammad Al-Shatti.

Kuwait’s submission to the ICJ suggests a potential move towards a more robust environmental policy framework and a heightened emphasis on sustainability within the nation. Further developments in the coming years will provide a clearer picture of how this commitment translates into concrete actions, reported KUNA.
