Commencement of ‘Electoral Silence’ Scheduled from Wednesday Noon

Kuwait City: The Ministry of Information has declared “electoral silence” for the 2024 National Assembly elections. It will commence on Wednesday, April 3, at 12:00 pm local time and will continue until Election Day on April 4. This announcement was made by Lafi Al-Subaie, the Acting Undersecretary for Press and Publications, in a statement to KUNA on Monday.

According to Article 22 of the Election Law No. 4 of 2024, electoral silence will be observed for 24 hours. This entails a temporary suspension of the broadcast of programs, interviews, reports, polls, and other materials related to the election. Instead, media messaging during this period will solely focus on encouraging citizens to exercise their right to vote. Also providing essential information regarding polling locations.

Al-Subaie emphasized that the objective of electoral silence is to allow voters a tranquil environment to make informed decisions regarding their choice of candidates for the National Assembly. He reiterated the Ministry of Information’s commitment to ensuring the success of the democratic process. And facilitating citizen participation in shaping the nation’s future through their votes.

As Kuwait enters this period of electoral silence, citizens are encouraged to seize the opportunity to reflect on their electoral choices and prepare to cast their ballots on Election Day.
