“The center has been operating round-the-clock to handle reports and inquiries,” said Muhammad Al-Azmi, Head of the Unified Communications Department. “The majority, over 10,300 reports, concerned electricity issues, highlighting the strain on the grid due to the scorching temperatures.”

Safety First: Tips for Residents

With the increased use of electricity during the heatwave, Al-Azmi stressed the importance of safety protocols, particularly in households with young children. He advised residents to:

  • Keep electrical cords out of reach.
  • Avoid placing appliances near water sources.
  • Refrain from overloading electrical outlets.
  • Ensure regular maintenance and inspection of appliances.

Conserve and Report: Working Together to Beat the Heat

The Ministry encourages residents to use electricity and water sparingly. Al-Azmi urged citizens and residents to report any power outages promptly through the 152 hotline or the mew152 app.

The center swiftly categorizes and directs reports to emergency response teams who work to restore services as quickly as possible. By working together, residents and the Ministry can navigate the summer challenges and ensure everyone stays cool and safe, reported Al Rai daily.
