One Million! Total passenger traffic handled by KWI in March

Kuwait City, Kuwait: The Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) released data today indicating a decrease in passenger traffic at Kuwait International Airport during March 2024.

Passenger movement for the month totaled 1,067,674, representing an 8% decline compared to March 2023. This decrease was offset to some degree by positive developments in other areas.

“While we experienced a decrease in passenger numbers, we are encouraged by the growth in both aircraft movements and air cargo volume,” stated Abdullah Al-Rajhi, Acting Deputy Director General for Aviation Safety, Air Transport and Civil Aviation Security.

Aircraft traffic witnessed a year-on-year increase of 7%. Also with 9,950 flights recorded in March 2024 compared to 9,283 flights in the previous year. Air cargo also exhibited a notable upswing of 14%.

Al-Rajhi further elaborated on passenger movement, specifying that arrivals reached 552,856 passengers, while departures totaled 514,818. The data also revealed that Jeddah, Dubai, Cairo, Dhaka, and Doha remained the top destinations for departing passengers from Kuwait International Airport.

The DGCA will continue to monitor and analyze traffic patterns at Kuwait International Airport to ensure efficient operations and meet the evolving needs of the aviation industry, Al Qabas daily.
